Information About Sleep Terrors

(also known as Night Terrors)

Sleep terrors are a disorder in which a person quickly wakes from sleep in a terrified state. The cause is unknown, but triggers may include fever, lack of sleep and periods of emotional stress. Night terrors are most common in children ages 3 through 7.
