Information About Exstrophy-Epispadias

(also known as Exstrophy, Epispadias)

Exstrophy-epispadias is a rare congenital defect. In boys, the urethra typically opens on the top or side (rather than the tip) of the penis, and in girls, the opening is usually between the clitoris and the labia, but may be in the abdomen. The bladder also is exposed, inside out, and protrudes through the abdominal wall.
