There are two main types of chest wall deformities: funnel chest and pigeon breast. Funnel chest (pectus excavatum) is a depression or hollow caused when the breastbone, the bone in the middle of the ribcage, is pushed abnormally inward. Pigeon breast (pectus carinatum) is caused when the breastbone is pushed outward.
