With backgrounds in human growth and development, education, psychology and counseling, child life specialists are trained to reduce stress and anxiety for children and families. They help patients and families understand how the hospital works and prepare them for procedures and medical experiences, taking into account the age, developmental stage and unique needs of each patient.
