If you’re looking for an enriching and diverse pediatric psychiatry training experience, I encourage you to explore Akron Children’s 2-year, ACGME-accredited Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program.

We inspire our fellows to create their own paths in the profession of child and adolescent psychiatry. Our goal is to train child psychiatrists so they are equipped to meet future challenges in caring for children, adolescents and their families.

Fellows work with a team of professionals, including child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, psychoanalysts, social workers, clinical counselors, pediatricians, child neurologists, developmental-behavioral pediatricians and other mental health providers.

Multiple  training sites enhance the overall overall experience. Educational opportunities within the hospital include rotations in the:

Training also includes rotations in community sites, such as:

Weekly didactics, which often are shared with developmental-behavioral pediatric and psychology fellows, provide formal educational experiences that ensure a thorough knowledge of normality and pathology in children and adolescents. Child psychiatry fellows are also expected to teach medical students and adult psychiatry residents, as well as completing a research/scholarly activity project.

After completion of training, our fellows are able to evaluate and diagnose all psychiatric syndromes in children and teens; provide biological and psychotherapeutic treatments, and practice in a variety of inpatient, outpatient and consultative settings.

Please contact me at with questions about our fellowship program and the application/interview process. I look forward to hearing from you and believe that the more you discover about our program, the more you will want to explore what we have to offer.
