Tom Ogg has been named chief information officer at Akron Children’s Hospital, effective July 19.
Ogg comes to Akron Children’s from Oakwood Healthcare Systems in Dearborn, Mich., where he has served as corporate director/chief technology officer since 2007. The Oakwood Healthcare Systems includes four acute teaching hospitals and 40 primary care/specialty care sites.
Prior to that, he held management positions with Memorial Healthcare in Owosso, Mich., and the Sparrow Health System in Lansing.
In his new position, he will oversee information technology for the Akron Children’s system, which cares for more than 500,000 children and adults each year in more than 80 locations. These include two free-standing pediatric hospitals in Akron and Boardman and 17 primary care offices throughout northeast Ohio.
“For 20 years, Tom Ogg has successfully managed the IT programs and implementations of several large hospital systems in Michigan, and Akron Children’s will benefit from his expertise, especially as we continue to transition to electronic medical records,” says Grace Wakulchik, chief operating officer for Akron Children’s. “We look forward to his leadership.”
