In just a matter of minutes Tuesday afternoon, the Spicocchi family expanded its ranks from four to nine.
Amie and Vince Spicocchi, of Massillon, became the parents of quintuplets – four girls and one boy, all weighing less than 2 lbs.
The babies were born at Akron General Medical Center between 11:40 and 11:41 a.m. and are now in Akron Children’s Hospital’s neonatal intensive care unit. The couple also has a 14-year-old daughter, Taylor, and 4-year-old son, Graydyn.
The newborns are Gia, Paige, Enzo, Ellie and Ilah.
Details about this amazing delivery and the medical teamwork involved will be shared at a press conference Thursday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. in the Reinberger Family Center at Akron Children’s Hospital.
Amie and Vince, John Ahmann, DO, a neonatologist caring for the quintuplets, and John Stewart, MD, Amie’s perinatologist, will also be available to discuss the road ahead for the infants and whole family.
