Akron Children's Hospital patient Evan Cameron appeared on WAKR's Ray Horner show to discuss his trip to Washington D.C. for NACHRI Family Advocacy Day. As a representative of the patients and families cared for by Children's, Evan is visiting legislators to discuss the need for continued funding for the Children's Hospital Graduate Medical Education program. This program provides much of the funding needed to train pediatric subspecialists, including cardiologists like John Clark, MD, the Akron Children's specialist who treated Evan's arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, a genetic heart condition that nearly cost Evan his life. Dr. Clark was also interviewed for this broadcast. Originally aired on 1590 WAKR-AM on July 25, 2011.
