Cochlear Implants

Research has shown that a cochlear implant can put children with hearing loss back on the same developmental track as their typically-developed peers. In this Children's Channel video, Marc Nelson, MD, MS, FAAP, director of the Center for Hearing and Communicative Disorders at Akron Children's Hospital, discusses which children are most likely to benefit from these devices, as well as an overview of the process from evaluation to post-surgical testing and therapy.
